More Pittsburg Jam ratings - Platinum 16U division ratings
I dropped down to the platinum division in the Pittsburg Jam tournament in April to see if I could pick up some more noteworthy teams to add to the national rankings. There were 36 teams in the platinum bracket and, while it was a fairly good tournament (top ten = 111 rating, team avg = 98), it was as expected for a second or third tier of a premier tournament. The teams were slightly lower overall quality from the Elite division.
The top team, Spooky Nook Raiders - Vangorder, looked lights out against the field and I originally had them rated at about 128, a national ranking, until I looked up Baller TV (thank God for Baller) to see if they had played anyone of significance in any other tournaments. In fact, they had played Team Durant EYBL in the Southern Jam in May and gotten a pretty good licking, 77-40, by Durant who has a 140 rating of their own. So I made an adjustment to the entire tournament field to bring it in line with the bigger picture. That doesn't mean that I drop Spooky Nook to a 93 rating and everyone else accordingly. I added the 93 to the numerous data entries that made up the 128 rating to come up with an 118 rating. Everyone has a bad game. There's a little bit of SWAG (surely wild ass guess) in statistics. Remember Mark Twain's quote, "Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics"?
Here's the Platinum ratings.... and with these results I may throw out a national ranking again this week.
