Revised EYBL 16U session 2 rankings
I have finally gotten around to the EYBL 16U ratings after the session 2 play in Noblesville, Indiana on May 10-12th weekend. Again, Mokan Elite has been the best of this top echelon league with narrow wins over Howard Pulley, The Family and Boo Williams before subduing Team Durant in the final by 8.
A number of teams moved up in ratings due to sound play and an adjustment I made in EYBL ratings based upon Woodz Elite, a common competitor in the EYBL and several other tournaments. I based my original ratings off the St. Louis teams and last years ratings, as a starting point. I adjust those over the season as I get more head to head results that make the algorithm better. EYBL top ten teams are at least 15 points better than any other tournament that I have analyzed so far.
Woodz Elite, who was winless in the first session, did not play the second EYBL round, but opted to go to the KC Classic and cleaned house, beating Yanders Law by 45 in the final. Their results help me solidify the Mokan rating which went up about 12 points from my last rating of them. The goal is to standardize the ratings across all the leagues using game results.
It is really interesting to see some top notch teams like Team United NC with a 129 rating and a 1-5 record. They have lost a lot of 3 to 5 point games or they could be 5-1. It's a really, really tough league.
Just ask Bradley Beal, probably on of the best teams in St. Louis, if not the best, who is 0-5 after two rounds. They seem to be finding a team chemistry after losing some key players from last year, but have not put any wins on the board here at EYBL. There is always Atlanta in July.
I feel like I have a mountain of stuff to dig through.... I haven't scratch the surface on East Coast and Carolina teams so I better get cracking.
